Crochet Star Blanket

I started making this Blue star blanket while still pregnant
even though we didn't know if we were having a boy or girl
I was pretty sure there was a little boy inside me!

Crochet Butterfy Shrugs

Well it has definitely been a while!
But I've got some goodies to show off because that's why we are all here, isn't it?!

With three beautiful neices I decided to make them a matching shrug for Christmas, to keep the cost of buying presents down at this time of the year.

Little Addy in her purple bamboo cotton shrug, with room to grow! Yarn was Moda Vera.

Scarlett in her bright red pure cotton shrug. She even chose the colour herself! Yarn was Paintbox Yarns.

And Isabella in her daffodil yellow, cotton shrug, colour also self chosen. Yarn also Pain Box Yarns.

Pattern can be found HERE on Etsy.

Baby Character Beanie

This little beanie
was a special request from my
sister's fiance for their new little bub Hudson!

I used a standard beanie pattern
and improvised the ears.

It was ridiculously quick to make up
and I think I might have to make more
for sale in my Made it Shop

Chunky Pink, Purple and White Kids Beanie

I've made another chunky winter beanie.
This one is a shell stitch in
white, pink and purple
and fits roughly 18 months - 3/4 years.

It can be found on sale HERE

Once again I've used MyBoshie yarn
and a 6mm hook to create this beanie.

Chunky Winter Blue Beanie

Here is a Chunky Winter Beanie
in Blue, Turquoise and White Stripes,
topped with a mega pom pom in white.

This one is sized 2-4 years roughly
and it currently for sale HERE
(Australia customer only, sorry)

I have used MyBoshi Yarn to make this
with a 6mm hook as called for.

It's a 30% wool, 70% polyacrylic yarn that is
quite cosy and warm to use and wear.

I love the colour combo's available in this yarn
and would love to make more beanies!

Hudson's Hooded Jacket

My nephew was born on the
13th of April and knowing there
was a little boy on the way,
I wanted to make him some cute things!

Here is the hooded jacket I crocheted for him

I just love the buttons and the way grey looks with the blue, tan and white striped sleeves and hood.

Pattern is from Newborn Knots
but I have altered the pattern quite a bit.

My Ravelry project page details my alterations

My First Quilt (And What I've Learnt)

Here is my first ever quilt.

I decided to make this for my nephew
when I found out my sister was pregnant towards the end of 2014.

I already had the grey and yellow jelly rolls from Craftsy, I got the fleece backing from Ikea and
the polyester batting and cotton binding from Spotlight.

This quilt took me a long time because I would get discouraged
by curvy lines and minor mistakes, as well as not knowing
whether I wanted to use batting or fleece or cotton.

What I've Learnt:
1) Plan Ahead! I started not really knowing what I wanted the finished quilt to look like. While I might have still changed my mind, a plan would have been very helpful!
2) Quilt's don't need to be this thick! I had to make my binding 5" wide so I could wrap it around but this may have been difficult because I'm a newbie.
3) Go SLOW! Don't rush. Just. Don't. Rush! Simple.
4) As above, going slowly = straighter lines!
5) Fleece would make a suitable batting and backing fabric!
6) And lastly - Practice makes perfect!

Brontosaurus

I've recently made a Brontosaurus
from the Fresh Stitches pattern Cliff the Brontosaurus

Although, I will be adding orange spikes down his back,
which might actually make him a different type of dinosaur?

Crochet Moose

I finished this Moose quite some time ago
before I moved down to Melbourne
But he was front heavy so I wasn't happy and never took his photo

Boxy Bunny

This is Boxy Bunny
Boxy Bunnies will be limited edition
because I am using leftover bits of yarn
to make Boxy Bunny
so you may not find the same colour combinations available
or the same skirt/shorts etc.

Soon enough Boxy Bunny will
be listed in my Made It Store - Hooky Fun
Boxy Bunny is 8 inches or 20.5cm tall
and would be easy for little hands to hold

Safety eyes are used, but eyes can be
felt and sewed on if preferred

but note I have altered the original pattern

**At the moment I am only posting to Australia
but feel free to contact me

A Secret Project

I'm super excited about this project for several reasons:
** It's not crochet **
** It's yellow and gray **
** It's got polka dots, checks and chevron **

It's a Quilt for another nibling!
(Nibling: collective term for nieces and nephews)

My sister is having her third baby and we don't know what it is
but she has chosen yellow and gray as the nursery colours.

I knew she loved these two colours together
(because I do as well and we have some Very similar tastes)
so I had already bought some yellow and grey jelly rolls from Craftsy

I have started sewing a quilt with alternating yellow and grey strips
making sure the patterns don't clash too much.

Here's a preview of the first 9 rows I've sewn together

Now the reason this is a Secret Project is that my sister does Not know I am making this.
It is my very first quilt and I wan't it to be a complete surprise!

A Purple Horse

A Purple Horse with Multi Coloured Hair

How cute is this horse!
And it is quite quick to make.

Horse stands almost 9inches tall and is perfect sized for little hands to hold on to.
I put two little 'pantyhose bags' filled with rice to add weight to the base
so that Horse wouldn't fall forward to.

over the last few years.

I am really wanting to make more toys

This was my niece Isabella's First Birthday Bear,
She is now missing an ear is is quite 'yellow'
