Polymer Clay Necklaces

To go with my niece's beanie's
that I made them for Christmas
I wanted to make them necklaces with polymer clay.

There are numerous websites and you tube videos
of how to use polymer clay
and these necklaces were the very first things
I made with the clay, to see how they would turn out.

This blue necklace is for Isabella to match her Elsa/Frozen inspired beanie.
Using only blue and white I could get 3 colours
(I could get many more variations of blue by mixing more or less white, but I only wanted 5 beads)

The pink necklace is for Scarlett
and I have used only Pink and White again to get
the 3 colours

In this close up you can see the imperfect bead shapes
and even my fingerprints on the beads.

I will be buying some additional materials
to assist me with making perfectly shaped beads
without fingerprints as I have fallen in love with polymer clay
and have so many ideas in my head.

On you tube, I found a video for a sliding knot and used this
to close the necklaces as I didn't want traditional clasps
and the waxed cotton wouldn't hold a simple knot.

The sliding knot allows the necklace to be as loose or as tight
as the girls like it to be.
I used Fabric Wash and Wear Glue to strengthen the knots too.

A Beanie with Braids

If you remember This Post
I made Isabella an Elsa Inspired beanie
from the movie Frozen with a long
braid down the side.

Knowing how it feels when a sister gets an awesome
present when you don't get the same thing
(Jealousy!!!)
I decided to make another version for her little sister Scarlett.

This beanie is pink, with a white tiara
and two yellow/blonde braids hanging from each side.

I've also used glitter glue and some extra glitter
to add some sparkle to the braids and the tiara,
just like Isabella's beanie.

I hope the girls like their Christmas Presents!
Also, I added some extra glitter to Isabella's beanie tiara

Crochet Moose

I finished this Moose quite some time ago
before I moved down to Melbourne
But he was front heavy so I wasn't happy and never took his photo
But I decapitated him and put him back together so he sits
all by himself now!

Boxy Bunny

This is Boxy Bunny
Boxy Bunnies will be limited edition
because I am using leftover bits of yarn
to make Boxy Bunny
so you may not find the same colour combinations available
or the same skirt/shorts etc.

Soon enough Boxy Bunny will
be listed in my Made It Store - Hooky Fun
Boxy Bunny is 8 inches or 20.5cm tall
and would be easy for little hands to hold

Safety eyes are used, but eyes can be
felt and sewed on if preferred

Pattern Credit to Minazara
but note I have altered the original pattern

**At the moment I am only posting to Australia
but feel free to contact me
to see if overseas post is viable**

Movie Inspired Beanie

I bet you can guess what movie the inspiration
for this beanie comes from!

With my niece Isabella
obsessed with the movie Frozen
I thought this would be an excellent idea
for a home-made Christmas Present

Check out my Ravelry Project Page

A photo of Isabella wearing will be added
after Christmas!

Pinterest

My goodness I LOVE Pinterest!
Do you have it and do you also
spend hours and hours on it?

Well I Do!
Usually when I wake up or when I'm eating breakfast, or when I on the couch 'watching' TV, or in bed before I go to sleep, or on my lunch break, or waiting for the train
I'll be browsing Pinterest!
(That's a lot of browsing!)

And because I have such an amount of pins
I have recently been re-organsing my boards
to be a little tidier and easier to find pins
when I need to refer to them again.

If you have Pinterest follow me
and we can be Pinterest friends!

A Secret Project

I'm super excited about this project for several reasons:
** It's not crochet **
** It's yellow and gray **
** It's got polka dots, checks and chevron **

It's a Quilt for another nibling!
(Nibling: collective term for nieces and nephews)

My sister is having her third baby and we don't know what it is
but she has chosen yellow and gray as the nursery colours.

I knew she loved these two colours together
(because I do as well and we have some Very similar tastes)
so I had already bought some yellow and grey jelly rolls from Craftsy

I have started sewing a quilt with alternating yellow and grey strips
making sure the patterns don't clash too much.

Here's a preview of the first 9 rows I've sewn together

Now the reason this is a Secret Project is that my sister does Not know I am making this.
It is my very first quilt and I wan't it to be a complete surprise!

We Have Hair

It's taken some time to get this right
and quite some time to pull apart yarn
but doll finally has some hair!

Now to make her some pretty clothes and she is ready to go.
I think I might sell this doll as a one-off item in my Etsy store.
To be Updated!

A Purple Horse

A Purple Horse with Multi Coloured Hair

How cute is this horse!
And it is quite quick to make.

Horse stands almost 9inches tall and is perfect sized for little hands to hold on to.
I put two little 'pantyhose bags' filled with rice to add weight to the base
so that Horse wouldn't fall forward to.

Mustard Gold Headwrap

This should come as no surprise
But I've made another headwrap
in Mustard Gold.

I think this one might go into the Etsy
shop to sell as I only made it coz I
loved the colour!

I really do like the look of the ribbed ones I have been making
over the first one I made.

A Doll in the Making

I have been searching for a good pattern
to make a doll for a very long time.

I finally found one that looked good and didn't use
tiny little hooks, as these hurt my hands.

I came across Just My Size Sammy on Ravelry
and was instantly impressed.

Here are a few of my progress shots.
The most laborious part is the hair!
I have re-done the hair 3 times so far
and I still don't have a good look!

This is how the hair looked after I made the 'wig cap' and attached stands.
After attaching almost a full head I held her up
and her head just flopped backwards.
I was devastated to say the least.
I really wanted her hair to be down but this method wasn't working
If I were to put her hair up or in some
'Princess Leia buns' this method would work great

Here is a close up of the hands and her belly button.
I modified these from the pattern - both the
thumbs and the belly button are just bobble stitches.
I modified the hands little also.

Can't wait to figure out her hair and get some more progress shots!

Take Me Back to the Crochet Toys

I love crocheting toys!
Here are most of the toys I have made
over the last few years.

I am really wanting to make more toys
to sell - either online or at craft markets

This lion is my own pattern

Patterns from Fresh Stitches {{bat, dog, crab, dinosaur, owls, koala's and kangaroo}}

This was my niece Isabella's First Birthday Bear,
She is now missing an ear is is quite 'yellow'
(The bear - not Isabella!)

I loved making these headwraps?!

Well here is another one in soft grey

normal version and the ribbed version I created

Crochet Braided Headwrap

[Finally some crochet!]

I have been wanting to make this headwrap
for quite some time and when one of my
sisters asked if I would make her one
I knew this was the one to make.

I found the pattern on Love City Blog
and also on Ravelry.

There is a link to an iKnits video
that is Very helpful when it comes
to the braiding part.

I did struggle with the braiding part
but once I got it - it looked fantastic!

For this one I used Moda Vera Marvel 12 ply in white with a 5.5mm hook.
I chained 235 and crochet 6 rows of single crochet stitches.

I've already got a few more
colours in the works because they
look so awesome!

DIY Dreamcatcher

While wasting time shopping I found
this DIY Dream Catcher kit at Typo

And with having cravings of needing to make something
I bought it and made it over a couple of days.

I definitely want to make some more
now that I know how easy it is.
